Emergency Preparedness and Response

Being prepared to respond to potential incidents is essential for any responsible operator. Our emergency response manager, who is a member of Continental’s HSE Organization, leads our emergency response and recovery efforts. Continental follows the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) National Incident Management System (NIMS), which provides a common structure to facilitate cooperation with local, state, and federal agencies in managing emergency response.

As part of our emergency preparedness program, we have systems in place to train and prepare operations personnel and other potential emergency responders. We work with employees, local rescue departments, and industry consortiums in our working areas. We conduct drills (in the field and within offices) to understand what potential incidents could occur and how we might prevent them from happening. We also incorporate communication systems to increase response time for potential incidents and to minimize impacts to the environment and communities in which we operate.
